THINK LONG TERM
If you have completed your goals and action items for 2018 then the next most important thing to realize is that instant gratification does not exist.
While creating your action plan for 2018 your marketing ideas may have come at a very fast pace and now visions of wild success may be dancing in your head. So far, so good! Keep those visions alive but realize that it takes a long term effort to develop and then maintain the various elements that make up your plan.
No growing business can rely on one single event or action and say that it will be totally responsible for achieving your goals. Let’s look at some actions that have to be taken to reach your goals.
- Mix It Up: This past year we have shared information on many marketing options. Make a list of the top 10 (go back and look at previous blogs in BizQuack) and then prioritize them. To reach your goals you may have to take some risks and try new ideas. For example, take your top three choices and then select another two from the list, the ones that may stretch you. Put all five into your marketing campaign.
- Be Consistent: It’s only the 4th day of the new year and early this morning I received a text from a new client wanting to try some new marketing ideas. He said that he tried his original selection and after two days “they didn’t feel right.” While I have always asked you to validate your marketing efforts, two days is not enough. Continue with the same program for at least two months while constantly checking your customer sources. If the results are not there, then try something new.
In my case, I have committed to spend at least 30 minutes, five days a week, developing a presence on a variety of Social Media sites. I also committed to 2 person-to-person meetings each week with people l have not yet met. In addition I have committed to one networking session each week and joined one civic organization. I will also be sending out weekly requests to my data base to help me grow my business. I will send out two monthly newsletters, one by e-mail and one by snail-mail. Will there be other things? Probably yes, but these are the fundamentals that I will stick to for all of 2018.
Can you summarize your marketing commitment for 2018? If yes, please send it to me. If you haven’t finalized it and need help, schedule an appointment with me ASAP.
