BEING AN ENTREPRENEUR
“Being an entrepreneur is being willing to do a job that nobody else wants to do, in order to be able to live the rest of your life doing whatever you want to do.” I don’t know where I first heard that statement, but it’s important for each of us to look forward to the possibilities as we struggle to make our businesses a success.
Doing this job requires working 10 times harder than your employed friends. For an entrepreneur, it means taking risks that you feel deep in your soul have a great chance of succeeding. It also means that you may have to pick yourself up when something doesn’t work, recharge yourself and proceed with renewed energy.
It means opening up your mind to learn from others knowing that you alone don’t have all the answers, thus you take every opportunity to increase your knowledge. It means surrounding yourself with trusted advisors and positive friends who are either on a path similar to yours or have already made their vision a reality. It means knowing that it is good to be in business for yourself but not by yourself.
One of the hardest obstacles that small business owners face is the inability to rid themselves of inertia which is defined as a disposition to remain inactive. A few days ago I wrote about “Waste Time” ; now is a good time to re-read that article and to follow the suggestions.
Getting ready for the new year is not about making goals, it’s about realizing what it takes to make next year your best year ever and committing yourself to getting ready mentally to do whatever is necessary.
