BEST 3 WAYS TO BECOME KNOWN
Building a reputation and building relationships are part of growing a business. I keep repeating the importance of becoming known and hope that it will help you to take action. These three action items will also help you to attract others and to build a positive reputation, and will also help you establish meaningful connections.
- Writing: Writing has many benefits; one of the most important ones is helping you clarify your thoughts and really think about your business. My daily blogs are almost all written about an experience I had or a need that I have to apply to my own business. By putting it in writing it helps me to better understand what I have to do. Take 15 minutes each day and write a short paragraph about what you plan to do for your business today or record other thoughts and issues you encounter. As you follow this you will find that your writing can now be shared in your newsletter or even an industry publication.
- E-mail: Having connections to people you know and then communicating with them on a regular basis is a great way to get your message across as well as establish a positive reputation. I am often told, “I don’t have anything to write about”. As a start, create a list of 26 tips that your typical customers can use. You now have a six month supply of weekly messages. Remember, don’t spam, and only send an e-mail to those whom you have asked permission.
- Speaking: if you follow the 15 minute a day writing habit you will be gathering material to present your business to your customers and target market. I don’t believe that most people have a fear of public speaking; their fear is a lack of material to talk about.
There is nothing more important than the effort you make to market yourself and your business. A lot of the suggestions I share are proven techniques that I have participated in as well as those that my clients have found to help them achieve success.
Discipline is the key word. The tools are here, but they won’t work unless you do.
