THE BEST WAY TO LEARN
It has been said that the best way to learn something is to teach it!
In our minds, we know our products and services, but that is the only place where that knowledge is kept. One is never sure if the mental notes are really complete. With regards to your business, what are you an expert in? What do you know more about than any other person in your industry?
To insure that you are the expert take the time to create a class that can be taught to prospects. The purpose of the class is not only to disseminate information but also to convince the listeners that you are the expert on that particular topic.
LinkedIn encourages you have a profile. If I read your profile, does it convince me that you are the expert in your field?
Marketing has two stories to tell. First is to convey the message that your product or service will satisfy their pain points and second, that you are the expert in your field and the best person to deliver that product or service.
By taking the time to write a class on your product/service, you will be forced to look into some details that you may have forgotten. A class has to be presented in a proper sequence and, as the instructor; you will have to be ready to answer any questions that come up during the presentation.
The expert designation comes when you are standing in front of your audience and are delivering your class. Don’t ever be afraid to deliver your message in the form of a class. Your preparation insures that you know more than anyone else in attendance.
Write your “class.” Then invite 8 to 12 prospects to a free information class. You may have to send out 30 to 50 invitation to get the RSVP’s you want. Most local libraries have rooms to rent for under $50 dollars. Perhaps your attorney, CPA or other strategic partner has a room you can use. Deliver useful information without selling your product/service.
Now you can truly say you are the expert and have the knowledge to back it.
