BUSINESS Problems & Pains
Starting and growing a small business is a series of problems. However, problems are the cutting edge that distinguishes between success and failure. Problems call forth our courage and force us into action. Problems, in my opinion, create our wisdom.
Benjamin Franklin said. “Those things that hurt, instruct.”
Unfortunately, most of us want to avoid pain. We procrastinate, hoping that our problems will disappear. We also ignore them, pretend that they don’t exist. We attempt to skirt around problems rather than meet them head on. We attempt to get out of them rather than suffer through them.
In today’s perfect problem storm, Covid-19, unemployment, riots, elections, new technology, and a host of other items that contribute to this “perfect problem storm”, every single aspect of our business can become a problem (challenge).
Problems create choices and the first and most important choice you have to make is to stay disciplined. The main areas of discipline should include:
- Delaying gratification: Face your problems first; don’t do the easy work first.
- Acceptance of responsibly: You are the only one that can solve your problems. Blaming them on others is a waste of time and energy.
- Dedication to truth: Recognizing the true reason a problem exists even if you are the cause.
Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain forever a barrier to your business growth and your own mental ability to reach your vision.
