PERSIST & RESIST
These two words are the foundation builders for achieving a vision. It’s not easy to start and grow a small business; obstacles are the growth bumps that you will encounter as you grow. The following message is for you, but you should share it with the world when you encounter those business “speed bumps.”
“We will not be stopped by obstacles or failures; we will resist distractions that want us to quit. We will persist and find our way around the obstacles until our vision is reached.”
Patience and belief in yourself are key; you must never envision yourself as failing. It’s okay to be discouraged. It’s not okay to quit. Starting and growing a small business is supposed to be hard. You are going to have to work 10 times harder than you ever thought you could.
There are no short cuts to success, but there are solutions to make the “long cuts” tolerable. Time and money are the most troublesome small business “speed bumps”. Every obstacle has a way around it, through it or over it.
This is a statement that I repeat often: It’s good to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself. There are people that are willing to and can help. Trusting, listening, and learning are three words that complete a persistent and resistant mindset.
I am convinced that building a community is an efficient way to help overcome business speed bumps. Your community should share a feeling of belonging and support for one another. Your prospects, customers, friends, peer groups and mentors should all be bound by a common identity.
Community building in business is the way of the future. It’s another part of the business make-up along with such things as accounting, and internal systems, etc. If there are at least 5 members that would like to meet on a scheduled basis, we can form a study group to develop a community development format.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
