SEE INTO THE FUTURE
Doing what you have always done is no longer going to work. Yes, there are a lot of business owners who pride themselves in doing things the old fashioned way. One of my new clients refuses to look at or even try, to understand, social media. “I have been marketing my business the same way for the last 25 years, and I am not going to change now.” My main challenge in this case is to convince him that refusing to acknowledge high tech and doing everything the old fashion way is a sign of laziness. I will define laziness in this case as a refusal to stretch the mind to learn.
The following is a quote from Ray Kurzweil: “A key point to keep in mind as we contemplate the future is that the pace of change is accelerating. And that means our power to expand the boundaries of human knowledge and accomplishment is accelerating, too. That the pace of change is accelerating may seem obvious, but most people fail to take it into consideration. According to my models, we are doubling the ‘paradigm shift rate’ (roughly the rate of technical progress) every decade, so we see twice the change in the next decade that we saw in the last, four times the change in the next 20 years that we saw in the last 20, and so on. The power of information technology is doubling even faster: in less than one year. That means that information technology, as measured by price performance and capacity, will multiply by 1,000 in less than a decade and 1 billion in 25 years”.
The moral of this blog is to encourage you to be part of the future, to embrace it. If you fear the future, you will end up turning potential profit away. It’s not always going to be easy but there will always be support to help you master the new technology. At BizQuack we will always strive to introduce new and challenging trends and provide the resources to help you implement them in your business.
“Those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.” John F. Kennedy
