TC: ACTION TODAY
Postponement and procrastination are two “bad guys” in the world of small businesses. I developed this action today process for one of my clients. Your challenge is to follow this format one day this coming week:
STEP 1: Identify your single biggest need that would bring you closer to your vision. Select something that, if action was taken today, would make a positive difference, or at least, would present an opportunity to make a difference. In making the selection, think about the things that you don’t like doing, or are afraid to do. An example is making cold calls or going to two networking meetings, or making a presentation to a group or setting up two “share stories meetings” with someone from your network at LinkedIn or Alignable.
STEP 2: Pick a day and set up the action item.
STEP 3: Tell someone about your Action Today plan. Include the following information:
o Why you chose that action item.
o What opportunities does it present?
o When is this going to take place?
STEP 4: Meet with your “someone” and share the results. Your “someone” could be your mentor or your support group or BizQuack.
STEP 5: Send Nick, nick@strategicduck.com , the results of your action day.
This process serves a purpose similar to the Accountability Tracker, but with the added requirement of reporting to someone else your plan and then sharing the results. Self-discipline is required for the Accountability Tracker to become an effective tool for growing your business. Action Today is designed to provide a support person to help nudge you along.
I promise that if you can complete at least three, pre-planned action items every week and report them as outlined, you will notice a very positive effect on your business.
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
