TC: LEARN DISCIPLINE – GET REWARDED!
One of the greatest challenges most small business owners face is that of discipline. It’s hard to keep your nose to the “grindstone” as a single person operation. Good habits take months to acquire; and perseverance until that habit is mastered is hard to maintain.
Your challenge today is to start a discipline that will reward you when it is mastered. This may sound “silly” or not worthwhile doing, but please do it any way as it will help you create good habits in other areas of your work and life. The following is your challenge outline.
TAKE THE CHALLENGE!
Take $100.00 and open a savings account (today) at a bank other than the one you normally use. Preferably, select the one that is the closest to your home or business.
Select one of the following amounts: $10, $15, $20, $25 or $50.
This is the amount that you will add to that account each week. Do not increase your weekly deposit over your initial selection. The recommended way to make this weekly deposit is in person. Vacation or out of town business trips will require you to make an advance deposit so that you never fall behind.
Keep a note on your desk or set a weekly alarm to remind you of your commitment.
This is a five year discipline building exercise; it is not an emergency account. At the end of five years this simple exercise will reward you in several ways:
➢ Your ability to follow through on resolutions will increase.
➢ Your business vision has a better chance of becoming a reality
➢ You can cash in your account and treat yourself to something special.
While I recommend this is a discipline building exercise for small business owners it is also a great learning and discipline building exercise for your kids. The rules are exactly the same.
It’s the ability to do the small things that lead to the accomplishment of the big ones.
START A NEW ROUTINE WITH GREAT REWARDS!
