TC: MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Last evening I participated in a discussion group which was very different than most of the discussion groups I have been a part of in the last few years. Unlike solving the problems of small business, how to get found, how to become profitable, how to hire a new associate, etc. our general topic was problems in the world.
We started small, looking at problems in our own immediate community then we gravitated to our city, county, state, the nation and then at problems facing the entire world.
We discussed Immigration vs Migration, and I got a new perspective as to the differences and the significance of those differences. Climate control, corona virus, cartels, oppression of the poor by the very rich, (especially in 3rd world countries) and even what effect Brexit would have on us.
With about 25 of us in the room the discussion got very lively and I’m sure each of us had opinions on all the subjects we visited. As a group we did not reach any conclusions as to which one was the most critical and which would have the biggest impact on us. We did, however, agree that there are a lot of new problems in every corner of the globe and unless changes occur, our world, our country, and our communities will change and not for the better.
We finished the evening by discussing possible solutions to what we felt were the most pressing problems. No, we did not solve any of the problems and not one of us had any real solutions. A good friend of mine was the moderator for the evening and he ended our session by challenging us to meet again next week and to bring forth what we, as individuals, could do to make a difference.
Your challenge for this week is to step away from your very busy business life and take a look at local, national and worldwide issues that are facing each of us. To complete your challenge make a commitment to do something, however small, that will better your community, state or nation.
