WRITE IT DOWN!
If your memory, both short term and long term, is like mine, then many important things are often forgotten. Brilliant ideas, important things that need to be completed, people that need to be called and a multitude of other things that pass through your mind disappear.
One of my “ancient” hero’s is Leonardo Da Vinci. Although he is best known for his painting of the Mona Lisa, he was, and in my opinion, still is one of the most brilliant minds that have ever lived. He was an Italian polymath (a polymath is an individual whose knowledge spans a substantial number of subjects) of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draftsman, engineer, theorist, scientist, sculptor and architect, just to mention some of his interests.
I was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of a tabletop, 500 plus page book with examples of his drawings and writings on every page. Many of the things he drew and wrote about in the 1400’s and early 1500’s are now part of our daily modern life.
I use him as an example because he wrote everything down at the time it came to his mind.
One of the best things you can do, for yourself and your business, is to keep a daily journal of everything you do and things that come to your mind, no matter how silly the idea may seem at the time.
Start with a spiral notebook and write today’s date on the first page. Keep this with you, 24 hours a day. No matter where you are or what you are doing take a few minutes and write down ideas and things that you want to remember. Keep this at your bedside to jot down those random thoughts as you lay in bed. When it’s full, keep it in your bookshelf and start another one.
Like any other habit, it takes determination and a strong character to embark on a journaling life. One thing I promise you, it will make a difference in the growth and success of your business.
