THE TRUTH ABOUT OVERNIGHT SUCCESS
Many small business start-ups have visions of becoming an overnight success. Their expectations to achieve this sought after status is measured by the number of likes or followers they have on social media or the number of people they hope are lined up to buy a product or service.
Overnight successes are a rarity and I have only found them on TV shows such as American Idol. In real life, many overnight successes are a product of years of effort, many small successes and failures, followed by a breakthrough which many assume was an effortless, overnight success.
Our challenge as small business owners is to avoid the temptation to become an overnight success and if not achieved to give up. The job of a small business owner is to figure out what daily progress looks like (Accountability Tracker) and become obsessed about succeeding in your daily and weekly goals.
It is better to become an overnight failure, opposite of an overnight success, who persists in the daily effort of building a solid foundation. That solid foundation will help you become the next “Big Thing”, an overnight success that took years to achieve.
“Success does not come through grades, degrees or distinctions. It comes through experiences that expand your belief in what is possible.”
