Doubt Kills Success
From the person who has a dream for a new business to the established business owner who has an idea for a new product/service, there exists a silent killer named “doubt.” The goal in all businesses is to move forward; doubt hinders plan development and the decision making process.
Doubt is created by many factors including:
- Self-doubt: can I really do this?
- Guilty feeling about trying something new.
- Fear of failure, will it really work?
- What will my friends and family say?
- Will I be able to afford this?
Doubt can stop you from moving in the right direction; it stops you from taking a chance, it slows down progress. To be successful you have to get rid of your “doubt” and move forward. If you believe in your idea then let your belief and passion take control. The reason we are not living our dreams is inside ourselves, not others that we so often lay the blame on.
We all have a comfort zone thus we keep repeating the things we have always done. When something new comes into our life we feel uncomfortable, yet these feelings are the foundation to future success.
This may sound easy, but the implementation will be difficult. It involves giving all your attention to “what could be”. It requires the development of a new business model which must include everything from customer segmentation to cost structure and everything in-between.
The most important requirement in killing the “doubt factors” is having a support and accountability system. That means finding a coach/mentor who believes in both you and your product/service, not someone who is looking for a “job.”
One more thought on this subject: If you want to move forward, don’t wait until all your “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” are crossed. Start brining your idea to life today. I was once told by my mentor that “anything worthwhile doing is worthwhile doing wrong”.
Don’t go around saying the world owes me a living; the world owes you nothing; it was here first.
