SURPRISING CONNECTIONS
You don’t have all the answers and you must never stop listening and learning from others.
There is no such thing as an insignificant person. How many times has someone asked for a meeting and you either ignored the call or refused the meeting. How often do you get an e-mail, maybe from a sales person that is never answered?
When you get these calls, what is the first thing that goes through your mind? Is it something like “ I don’t need whatever they are selling”, or,” I don’t have time to be bothered?”
We are all in the people business and you never know how that “bothersome” person may positively affect your business.
In your BizQuack Tutorial I use the term “Quack working”. That is when you have a one-on-one meeting and share your stories. When you get that unsolicited phone call, have a script ready.
As an example, “Tell me in one minute how your product/service can benefit my business” Or “Tell me why you are doing what you are doing” In my business, I feel that I need other people to tell my story to their circle of influence; and if they have positive answers to my questions, I will set up a 20 minute appointment to visit in person.
Note that I set up a time limit for our initial meeting and I stick to it. If I feel that there is a connection and some mutual benefit, I will set up another, longer meeting at a future date.
Marketing, telling our story, is an integral part of growing a business, and I consider the people that I invite to visit as a positive and time saving method of making a contact.
You are in control of this meeting, and you can structure it to benefit your business. As you practice this short Quack Working method you will find that you will also be selling your product or service.
Business is about people and relationships.
