TC: GIVERS, TAKERS, & MATCHERS
All of us fall into one of these three categories. According to a recent survey, 25% of us are givers, 19 % of us are takers and 56 percent are matchers in our interactions with other people. Givers are constantly helping others around them. Takers are self-serving; they are always on the lookout for what you can do for them, and they don’t care what they could do for you. Matchers are right in the middle. They will do something for you if you can do something for them.
Your challenge today is to take an in-depth look at yourself and determine which of these three you are. The important thing to remember in this exercise is to reflect on how you give, not how much you give.
One example of giving is to have a big impact in a short period of time; for example, giving more to your customer than was expected. Being obsessive about giving your customers more than they could ever have dreamed – being relentless in your pursuit of excellence, will help your business grow now and in the future.
Remember that not everything you do as a giver turns into a revenue event, but everything you do is a relationship event. Make over delivery a way of life. It will help you gain loyalty and trust not just in your business life, but also in your personal life.
Yes, there is always a danger that others will take advantage of you. In the long-run you will gain competitive advantage and your customers will not only be loyal but will help you through referrals.
