TC: VISUALIZATION
“You won’t see how to do it until you see yourself doing it”
Visualization is an important skill for all small business owners.
The Biz Quack Vision Based Business Plan is all about building your business using your Vision as its starting point. We defined a Vision as what you ultimately want to achieve with your business if you had no time or money constraints. The daily use of your Accountability Tracker helps you focus on reaching your Vision by taking daily forward steps. Hopefully you keep your Vision Statement in several, easy to see places.
I define Visualization as the tool needed to take the sometimes difficult small steps that are needed to reach your goal. First you have to see yourself taking that small step and envisioning a positive result. Walk thru the entire process, all that has to be done in order to complete the necessary step.
“When you mentally rehearse an “outcome visualization” (using all your senses to visualize a goal) or a “process visualization” (where you rehearse the steps you will take to achieve your goal), it’s like putting your mind and body through a “free” test run. The mental imagery you create impacts multiple cognitive processes in the brain: motor control, attention, perception, planning, and memory. So the brain is literally getting trained for actual performance during visualization.”
The final step in the Visualization Process is Action. Unlike your long term Vision, visualization is best used to tackle an immediate challenge, and the final step to overcoming the obstacle is to take action now. The focus is only the problem at hand and the goal is to overcome it as soon as possible.
Instead of putting off something you don’t want to do or thinking that it may be too difficult to achieve, try visualizing yourself as having done it.
Your challenge is to take your most pressing issue and visualize yourself as having completed it. Then take the action to make it a reality.
