TC: WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Growing a business is not always exciting. Effective time management is worth exploring.
There are certain things that will motivate you and usually those are the things that you pay the most attention to.
Your challenge today is to take a sheet of paper and divide it into two sections. Label one section “The things I like to do the best in my business” and the other, “The things I dislike doing in my business.”
Place the sheet of paper on your desk and for the next three days add things to the two columns as you think of them. Hopefully you will have somewhere between 4 to 8 items in each of your lists. In most cases, this should encompass most of your working schedule.
The next part is to look at each of your two sides and answer the following questions about each of the items on your list.
- How much of my time do I spend on each of the items?
- Rate each item (from 1 to 10 with 1 being not important to 10 being the most important)) as to its effect on the overall profit of the business.
- Answer the following question: if I spent more time on doing the things I dislike doing, what difference would it make on my business?
Time Management
This exercise will help you determine if you are spending your time effectively on behalf of your business. I think that you will be surprised by the results of this very simple challenge.
The biggest challenge is to act on it now. Procrastination (delay) will make this challenge disappear and you will lose the opportunity to discover if you need a course correction.
