TUESDAY CHALLENGE: YOUR BUSINESS HAS A HEART
Not just because it is Valentine’s Day; your business has to have a heart in order to live and grow. Your business had a birth date and, like children, it didn’t feel well many times during its formative years. It needed special nurturing in order to get it back on its feet.
A business has to be treated as a living entity. If it’s a new business, look forward to celebrating its first birthday; if it’s older, make sure you celebrate its birth; it is a special occasion and should be treated as such.
Just as a child, your business will outgrow the needs it had in the beginning and as it matures, it needs a different type of support and nourishment.
Your Tuesday Challenge on this Valentine’s Day is to remember the date your business was born. Mark the date in your calendar and make sure you celebrate that date every year. A party would be a great ideaJ
The rest of your challenge is to create a time line, from your business’ inception to today. Important dates may include the day you first came up with the business idea, the day you printed your first business cards or perhaps the day you formed an LLC.
If you draw a level line and put good dates as a point above the line and then when things didn’t go so well you may have to put a point some distance below your base line.
It’s hard to know where you are going if you don’t know where you came from.
This short exercise (do your best to complete this in your two hour challenge time) will help you remember and learn from what was “done right” and what was “not so right”.
We have to learn from both our mistakes and our victories. We should never forget about either.
“To be successful you have to have your heart in your business and your business in your heart.” Thomas Watson
