TUESDAY CHALLENGE: NO LIMITS
We set limits on ourselves and our businesses because we start a new venture based on the resources we have at the beginning. A more mature business, say one to three years old, may still be mired in working within the boundaries dictated by its current resources.
Today’s challenge allows you to do some dreaming. Let’s say that you just received a one million dollar gift which must be used to improve your business.
Spend a few minutes enjoying your new found wealth then start a list of all the things that you could do to grow your business.
To make this a worthwhile challenge, your list has to contain a minimum of 25 improvements that you would implement. Next to each item on your list, write down how that would benefit your business.
Your next step is to prioritize the list; make the one that you feel would have the most impact on your business number one. Now take the top ten and next to each write what impact that would have on your business if it was implemented.
After you have completed this exercise with your first top ten selections, review them and make sure that they are still in the same sequence. You may find that there will be some movement in their importance ranking.
Now, review your top three and select the one that, if implemented, would benefit your business the most. You have now selected your focus.
Your challenge now changes to an implementation process. Write down, in detail, what is necessary to make this improvement a reality. There is no such thing as “I don’t have the time or I don’t have the money”. I mentioned these two typical stumbling blocks, time and money, because they are the ones I most frequently hear when using this challenge with a client. Time is a discipline issue and money is something that can be obtained by anyone who has the desire to work hard and to be innovative.
Raising capital is now easier than ever. Everything from grants to crowd funding and loans to venture partners are just a few of the financing options now available.
Let your dreams soar!
