VISUALIZATION
As kids we sometimes were told “stop day dreaming and get back to your school work.” As a small business owner, daydreaming, imagining, visualizing or meditation is a good thing. No, don’t spend an entire day but 15 to 20 minutes at a regular time each day can become a very useful habit.
I usually focus on my long term goal; I see it every day on my Accountability Tracker. The only tools you need to participate are a notepad and a pen plus a quiet place to sit. I have several things I focus on and they are attached to my meditation notepad.
The following are several items for you to consider; yes, you can change and add your own.
- What new thing can I do to better reach my target market?
- How else can I differentiate my service?
- Who can I talk to this week to help me grow my business?
- How can I become more productive?
- Another option is to go back and review a few of the BizQuack daily blogs that you have not adopted. Use that as the focus for your meditation. See yourself applying that blog to your business and how much benefit it will provide.
Most often, you will find that your mind starts wandering in another direction. If it pertains to business let it wonder, if not, bring yourself back to focus on your questions.
Every small business owner will benefit by pausing and reflecting. I believe that this pause provides more value than almost anything else you can do. It helps keep you on the right track as you review your day. The meditation process expands and enriches your thinking.
Yes, I am suggesting that you develop another habit. This 20 minute meditation has to be conducted in silence, no TV, or interruptions of any kind. A quiet part in your home before you start your work day; a quiet place in your garden or on your porch; a chapel may be your special place. Whatever location you select use it every day and at the same time.
For many of us, our best ideas originate during this quiet time. You will find that as you jot down your thoughts and review them later, there is a wealth of powerful information to transform your business.
As the old saying goes, “Try it, you will like it.” After 90 days you will have ingrained in yourself a new habit which will change your business in a very positive way.
Dreaming …with purpose!
