WHAT’s YOUR PLATFORM?
A different definition for this word: Let’s define Platform as: “The combination of tools you use to reach others and communicate ideas.”
Using this definition, what is your platform? How did you select the tools you are currently using to send out your information? This is an exercise type blog. Start a list of all the possible tools and sub tools that can be used to share your benefits. I will start with a few examples:
- Blogs
- Newsletters (snail mail and e-newsletters)
- Podcasts
- Networking opportunities (both online and in person)
- Social media: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Video presentations
- Writing a book.
- Virtual reality.
- Printed material
- Landing page
I mentioned ten and included a few examples of subsets. I encourage you to grow this list to at least 20 tools. By each tool write a sentence as to why you are or why you aren’t using this tool. Next to each tool state how it can help you grow your business. Remember that we are communicating with prospects, our current customers as well as with potential referral sources.
In today’s world our communication tools are in a state of permanent change. Unless you keep up, both with new communication options as well as how your target market wants to be communicated with, you are not fulfilling your business’ communications needs.
Just having the tools is not enough; your message has to be the same across all your communication tools. That also means that you must constantly change the content to keep it new, interesting and valuable.
Please send me a list of other communication tools, and I will combine them and share it with all our BizQuack Community.
