GET SOCIAL MEDIA WORKING FOR YOU!
LISTEN TO INDUSTRY LEADERS
“Listening first and engaging second should be key to your social media approach”
Your challenge this week is to begin a process of “listening”. Read and implement the following to build a better social media marketing plan for your business.
- There are a lot of social media sites. Part of your challenge this week is to find out which ones are the ones that your target market is using. LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter usually get most of the attention. In your particular industry there may be other sites that serve your industry better. Do a google search for social media sites that cater to your specific industry.
- Once you have identified the sites that are best suited for your business start looking for the “influencers” and see what they are talking about as it relates to your products or services. Read their content; this will give you great insight as to what you need to write about to get your name out.
- Now formulate a plan to be present on your selected site(s). Provide valuable content; remember you must give first in order to receive. The purpose of this step is to become known and eventually be the “influencer” in your industry. This will require patience, consistency and the providing of valuable content.
These three steps are a vital part of a solid marketing program; the results of this effort will have prospects reaching out to you.
Marketing is about the stories you tell.
