Tuesday Challenge: Content Marketing
Your challenge this week is to become familiar with the concept of Content Marketing and to learn to keep it in sharp focus as you further develop your marketing.
Let me start with a definition: “Content marketing is the marketing and business process for creating and distributing valuable and compelling content to attract, acquire and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.”
Always remember this: Your customers don’t care about you, your products, or your services. They care about themselves. By keeping this statement in our minds at all time we will be reminded to focus more on our customers and less on our products/services. Content marketing is not about selling, but about communicating with your prospects without selling.
Today, take a look at all your marketing efforts. Look at anything that a potential customer may see. Remember, your target market buys your approach to solving their problems.
Your content marketing:
- Does it fill a need?
- Are you consistent in your blogs and postings?
- Are you sharing your personal story and your firm’s story on a regular basis?
- Don’t use “sales talk” in your content marketing.
- Are you positioning yourself/company as the experts in your field?
Make sure, as you review your current marketing content, that the same message is consistent across all media fields. This is the week to make any necessary changes.
