TUESDAY CHALLENGE: REACH OUT
This week’s challenge is simple, reach out and set an appointment with someone you don’t know and have never spoken to before. The appointment should be in a coffee shop or even in your office. The goal is not to meet in your contact’s place of business.
The profile of your new contact should be someone that may have the same target market as you. The purpose of your meeting is to share your stories and to explore the different ways you can help each other grow your businesses.
There are so many sources for finding this contact; such places as LinkedIn, Go To meeting, Alignable, etc. Another possibility is to identify the type of business person you wish to contact and reach out to your data base and ask for an introduction.
In preparation for this meeting make sure you have your “story” and your value proposition to share.
Sharing stories is a good way to begin a meeting, followed by asking “How can I best help you grow your business?”
Always ask if you can include them on your e-newsletter mailing and send a hand written card thanking them for their time and that you are looking forward to getting to know that person better.
The challenge continues; set a similar appointment every week. Remember that marketing should take 40% of your time, and this is a small but powerful tool in your marketing arsenal.
